Emergency Transportation of Children
As you all probably are aware we had to transport a child via ambulance
this past week. It was a sad situation, but everything was handled
well. One thing that was brought to my attention by one of the first
responders is, if a child requires emergency care, they will be brought
to the closest medical facility, which happens to be Athol Memorial
Hospital. Any child in a crisis situation would be transported to the
Athol hospital to be stabilized and could then be transferred to another
facility, if necessary. A few parents had indicated other preferences
such as Franklin Medical Center or Cooley Dickinson on their emergency
forms, but these are not realistic options in the event of a true emergency.
Feel free to call me if you have questions regarding this.
Sincerely,
Nan Mead, RN, BSN
