Experts on the Quabbin Reservoir

Mikey Cutting is the curator of the Petersham Historical Society and the Pelham Historical Society. She visited our class many times bringing primary source documents and a wealth of knowledge.

Mrs. Elizabeth Peirce is the president and curator of the Swift River Valley Historical Society and author of The Lost Towns of the Quabbin Valley. She visited our classroom many times with artifacts and information to share with us. She donated two copies of her book to the children of our school.

Mr. John O'Keefe is the coordinator of Fisher Museum at Harvard Forest and author of New England Forests Through Time Insights from the Harvard Forests Dioramas.

 

"The dioramas were very detailed. I hope we go again."

Mrs. Edith Watson is the great-grandmother of one of our third graders. She lives in a house that had been relocated from Enfield to New Salem. This slate was found in a wall of the house.

 

"I'm studying houses that came from the Quabbin back then. My great-grandma came to talk about my house."
